Pame House

Being on the first floor, right beside reception, was my biggest problem. You can hear full conversations at the desk, people walking through, and the crowd and street performers outside. Avoid this floor if you want a good night's sleep. It makes sense that the room costs a little more than a standard double, since it’s one of the rooms you don’t want. Some table surfaces weren’t clean, though the bed and bathroom were immaculate. There were positives: the location is amazing, the air conditioning worked great, and the junior suite with balcony was spacious and had a minimalist design. We got early check-in, the front desk and housekeeping were nice, and the rooftop lounge had a good view of the Acropolis. We felt our belongings were safe with the staff and in the rooms. One thing I didn’t expect as a first-time visitor to Athens was being told at check-in that used toilet paper can’t be flushed and has to go in the bin. I’ve traveled in Asian countries, so that wasn’t an issue for me, but the surprise made it a downside.

The rooftop was a peaceful little oasis with a fantastic view, nice in the daytime with shade and a light breeze, and lovely at night. Breakfast was included at a busy restaurant down the street, with a great selection that we really enjoyed. We booked the cheapest room, “Comfort, Queen, Courtyard View, Balcony,” because I wanted a quiet courtyard-facing spot instead of a street view, and it was quiet. The room was still a good size, very clean, and well maintained, with a mini fridge, wine and drinking glasses, and an in-room safe. Pame House was exactly what I wanted. It’s on a quieter street, but within walking distance of the tourist sites, including the Acropolis.

The lack of sound insulation is the biggest issue. You hear conversations in the hall and at reception, and the balcony glass does nothing to block street noise. Don’t book rooms 101 or 102, which are right beside reception. The walls feel like paper, so it sounds as if people are in your room. The standard room is extremely small, with barely enough space for two people to move around. The location is excellent, and the rooms are clean with a nice urban design. Staff were okay. When we asked them to keep it down, one receptionist suggested earplugs. I don’t recommend staying here and definitely won’t return. There are several other hotels in the area with just as good a location.

My fiancée and I stayed for four nights in October 2025. We were happy with our room and satisfied with the hotel service and staff. The location works really well for travelers, and we had a great experience.
