From the rooftop at night, the Acropolis view really finishes the stay. The rooms are simple but have what you need, and the price was very good. The hotel is in Plaka, close enough to walk to the Acropolis, restaurants, and shops. There’s a cute church right across the way, too. Breakfast costs extra and needs to be booked ahead.

The rooftop terrace has amazing Acropolis views, and our balcony room looked out at it too. The place was clean and the location made it easy to walk everywhere. The rooms, though, are tiny and very bare, so it felt more like a hostel. Some have their own bathroom, while others use one across the hall. There was plenty of noise outside: taxis gathering, people at the snack kiosk, and construction that seemed to run until midnight and start again at 6 a.m.

My last night in Athens at Phaedra’s Hotel turned out to be a great choice. I had a comfortable bed and a really nice hot shower, and the staff were sweet. The windows and balcony had lovely views. They even moved me to a more comfortable room at no extra mention, just because. Thank you so, so much. I’d happily recommend it.

The price is affordable and you’re right in central Athens, but the facilities feel like a budget hostel, maybe 1/5 for that side of things. I wouldn’t stay longer than two nights here, or you’ll go crazy. If you’re coming for a proper vacation, look for somewhere better.

The room was cleaned and the staff were flexible, and the location is perfect. Still, the room is tiny and the floor felt sandy. It seemed overpriced, though Athens turned out to be more expensive than I expected. The metro is reasonably priced, so...
