Skylark Hotel, Athens

The hotel had a cosy style, and the staff were amazing, kind, and did everything they could to accommodate us. Breakfast was the biggest surprise: good food, freshly made, with really lovely staff. Our room was just right, and we had a great view of the fountain. It was a bit noisy outside because of the roundabout and fountain, but that’s about the only downside I can think of. I love this hotel and will definitely come back!

The rooftop was a highlight, especially the pool and bar with their Acropolis and sunset views. The bar team were amazing, and the food there was really good. Breakfast had plenty to choose from, including hot dishes, yogurt, pastries, salads, tea, coffee, juice, and water. The metro and bus stops are close by, too. We stayed four nights. Our room was on the small side but comfortable, and the bed was very comfortable. Toiletries were supplied and smelled lovely, as did the tea and coffee. I hope I can come back one day.

The rooftop pool was a big reason I booked, but at just 0.7m deep it's for lying in, not swimming. The hotel itself has a nice style, the breakfast was very good, and the check-in staff were friendly and kind. The neighborhood felt sketchy and unsafe to me. Traffic and horns were loud through the balcony glass door. I switched another hotel booking to this one because of its 4.1 rating and expected better, and I regret the choice, mainly because of the area. Moving to a room away from the street made a big difference, so ask for one if noise bothers you.

The staff were the best part for my wife and me. They were so friendly and helpful. Our room was cozy and cleaned spotlessly every day, and the hotel itself was spotless. The food and drinks were superb. I had worried about the location because many guides warn about Omonia square, but we had a great time and felt completely safe. We had no problems, and I didn't hear of any other guests having trouble either. For location and safety, you can't beat this hotel.
