The food was decent, but breakfast had very few options. The rooms were small, the location wasn’t great, and you have to handle your own luggage.

The hotel looks nice, and the best part for me was a black-and-white stray cat the staff let in through the automatic doors. My roommates named her Ace. The rest of our experience was rough. I was with a group of about 30, and at least two groups of four people found cockroaches in their rooms. I shared a room with two others, and the extra bed had a broken leg. The door frame was also coming apart from the front door. I brought bedbugs home too. Please, for your family and friends’ sake, don’t stay here.

For a cheaper stay in Athens, this is a good option. The restaurant was great, the service excellent, and the rooms simple but nice. It’s around a 30-minute walk to the Acropolis, or a taxi takes about five minutes and costs 6 euros. There are also some excellent local places to eat nearby, much cheaper than around the downtown Acropolis area. The hotel sits right on the avenue, so you hear traffic and the church bells across the street. That didn’t bother me, and I’d definitely stay again.

The staff were polite, breakfast was okay, and the room was spacious, but the old furniture wasn’t very clean and there were cockroaches in the bathroom. The hotel charged us more than the booked price, saying there had been a “system mistake in room rates,” then added extra taxes for no reason. It seems they do this regularly. The location is about 30 minutes from the tourist center by public transport. For the poor facilities and service, the price is far too high. This isn’t a four-star hotel, or even close to two stars, and I don’t recommend staying here. Be careful, it’s not reliable.

The staff made us feel so welcome and went above and beyond. Our room was spotless, and the beds were super comfortable. We had a wonderful stay at Athens Atrium Hotel.
