The arrival was a mess. The beds weren’t made, just had sheets folded at the end for us to put on ourselves. Even some of the cheapest places I’ve stayed around the world managed to make the bed. The apartment was supposed to be luxury and boutique, but that feels like an outright lie. Please take this as a warning, especially about the standard apartment. I can’t imagine why there haven’t been more complaints, unless management simply doesn’t care and wouldn’t act on them. This is a shabby apartment, not a luxury or boutique hotel, and the online description is completely misleading. It’s tucked into the flea market behind a door that was almost impossible to open. We nearly had to kick it down several times, and local people helped us get into the building. They were shocked by its condition too. When the flea market is open, you have to go through a shop set up in the doorway, hauling your bags through it. The stairs up to the apartment are steep and dangerous, especially with luggage. The cleanliness was practically nonexistent. The beds weren’t made, and no water was replenished. I don’t think there was any cleaning at all. There was black mould on the pillow. The bathroom was tiny, with a very slippery floor and no bathmat. When we contacted the accommodation, they said we weren’t looking properly and it should be there. After several back-and-forth messages, the owner reluctantly agreed to have the cleaner bring one the next day. Being challenged over such an easy fix was uncomfortable and bizarre. We were told toiletries would be provided, but all there was was an unlabelled pump bottle that was apparently shampoo. The Wi-Fi barely worked in most of the standard apartment. You had to sit on the toilet to get reception.
