The Solon House

The team explained everything clearly ahead of time, so there were no surprises, and they were super friendly and easy to reach. The rooms were comfortable and nicely maintained. Solon House is right in downtown Athens, close to the old town and within easy reach of both subway and bus stations. It was a great stay, and I’d definitely recommend it to anyone coming to Athens.

For £50 a night, having the whole apartment to myself was a great deal. The hosts were helpful and courteous, and the location was great, with loads of bars and restaurants nearby. Most of the sights are within walking distance too.

The building is nice and new, and it made a good first impression. Since I come to Athens often, I decided to become a regular, but that’s when the problems started. One woman there was rude and unwelcoming. I’d left food in the fridge, and when I came back the next day it was gone. She said the cleaners had eaten it, with an attitude, then reluctantly offered to pay 4 euros, even though it had cost more. She also told me not to leave anything there again, as if it were my fault. I had a lot to carry and couldn’t take my guitar with me, so I had to leave it there that time. She complained about that too. In my opinion, managing an Airbnb means showing hospitality and good manners, but she gave me attitude instead. Replacing her would be the wiser decision. Aside from this, the building deserves better.

The self check-in meant we had great flexibility with arrival and departure times, and the staff were helpful. The hotel was lovely and spotlessly clean, just a short walk from the city centre. There are some nice cafés nearby for breakfast. Wholeheartedly recommend it.
