The Vault Athens

The location is great and the staff are friendly, but there were a lot of problems. A popular nightclub is right across the street, and the noise at 2am was bad enough that I tried to post a video. The bed smelled sweaty, and I threw away my toothbrush after spotting a bug on it. The aircon vent looked very dusty, so I didn't turn it on. The hangers are thin wire, and the WiFi was too slow to download a Netflix episode. This feels like a 2-star place. Don't expect crisp white towels or nice amenities, and the soap provided is very low grade.

The views were majestic, and our rooms were always perfectly tidy when we got back. The rooms were large, and the employees were so kind that we felt comfortable throughout our stay. It's a lovely, cost-effective place with amazing service. I'd recommend it and would definitely stay again.

The location was great, and I felt safe, but I wouldn't go back. This didn't feel like a four-star hotel, and the quality seemed below par. There was mold in the shower, which looked as if it hadn't been cleaned in a long time, and something had splattered on the wall by my bed. The fridge was warm when I went to use it, and the towels were worn out. The woman at the desk was nice, but she leaves at 9pm, so I don't know what you'd do if you needed something later. I forgot my toothbrush but didn't even ask for one, it just didn't seem like that kind of hotel. I'd read complaints about noise and there was a little, though we were there over Easter weekend when not much was happening in town.

The room was large and in great condition, and the big sofa was a plus. The bathroom was spacious too. But despite the convenient location near the center and public transport, I wouldn't recommend the place. To me, it felt more like a bed and breakfast than a hotel, and nowhere near four-star quality, perhaps two. There was no restaurant breakfast. You choose from a sheet of paper, then a maid brings it to your room on a tray in the morning. The breakfast service felt chaotic. The nightclub across the street played music late, even during the week, and I can only imagine how it gets in summer. There were plenty of other issues too, including broken bedside lamps and bathroom fixtures, and the coffee setup barely fit on its shelf.
