We loved having a kitchen and a washer-dryer, though it’s one machine for both, so a full cycle takes a few hours. There’s a market within walking distance for groceries and laundry soap. The church and square are just down the street, and it’s a stunning area. From here, we could walk to the shops, restaurants, Monastiraki, the Acropolis, and pretty much everything we wanted to see. I picked Plaka because it was our first time in Greece and I wanted somewhere central, with an easy walk to most places. We stayed in Unit D for five nights in May. The property manager sent all the check-in details and entry codes ahead of time, and helped with a couple of things after we arrived. WhatsApp is useful for getting in touch with them, and they respond quickly. One day the keyless door was difficult to open, but they helped us get back in within ten minutes. The door worked fine after that. There are three PINs to keep track of, but the building felt very secure. This is more of an apartment stay than a hotel: there’s no housekeeping, and you take your trash to the receptacles behind the church. It’s a cute little place, and I’d absolutely stay here again.

The layout and design looked like they’d had real thought put into them, which makes the poor management and sewer smell all the more disappointing. The smell was so strong in the bathroom that using it was almost impossible, and even with the door closed it took over the apartment. The windows were all open when we arrived, and you can smell the sewer odor in the stairwell on the way up. After reading other reviews, we realized this seems to be an ongoing problem. I won’t be back. The floors were filthy too. After lying on the bed, I noticed the bottoms of my socks were black. Dirt, hair, and stains covered the apartment floor, and I don’t know if it had ever been mopped. We reported both issues to staff. They sent someone the next day to pour liquid into the drains, which did nothing. When we asked for the floors to be cleaned, they wanted photos, which we sent right away. They said a cleaning crew could come the following day, but our third day came and went and nobody showed up. We’d booked for three days.
We booked an apartment through booking, but were given one that was much smaller and dirty. The host said they would check with booking, then never got back to us. Not a serious company, and the host was no help. I don’t recommend it.
My first night there was the worst experience I’ve ever had. There were red flags from the start, and he was rude right away. I ended up walking out that night with all my suitcases and finding somewhere else at the last minute. Terrible. I’d use much harsher language, but it wouldn’t be appropriate. I’d tell anyone not to stay there.
I rented a place in Pagrati for October and it was just right: quiet, clean, nicely furnished, and near good shops. The company was great to deal with too. Whenever I had a question, they got back to me quickly.
