The Victoria metro station is right by Victoria Square, a busy public hub in central Athens. The square has historic and cultural significance, and its lively atmosphere is especially noticeable during the day. A statue of Queen Victoria of the United Kingdom stands at its center, with neoclassical buildings, shops, and cafes around it. Locals and visitors meet here, and the area reflects a blend of Greek and multicultural influences. Many immigrants also live nearby.

I’m not sure the apartment is actually on the square; it might be somewhere else. Could you share a website or address? I’ve seen a report about some apartments in Pangrati that sounded very good. If this place is right on the square, it could be a decent option. The archaeological museum and Areos park are nearby, as are buses to Sounion and other parts of Attica. It’s one metro stop from Omonia and two from Monastiraki.

There’s plenty around Victoria Square, with shops, cafes, restaurants, benches, greenery, and an impressive statue. The metro station is right there too. It does get a bit noisy because the roads around it are so busy.

It’s a nice spot to sit and enjoy the view. Nearby you’ll find Goodys burger, island coffee, a NOVA shop, KAP office, a kiosk, and the metro station. There’s plenty going on during holidays like Easter and Christmas. These days, though, it doesn’t feel safe, so watch your wallet, phone, and shoulder bag.

There are several coffee shops and fast food places around this busy square. It’s packed with migrants, most of them from Afghanistan, and feels like the center of a parallel migrant community in Athens. The nearby streets have lots of Pakistani and Afghan shops, mobile dealers, travel agents, and other services. It’s worth seeing if you want to understand migration’s impact on Athens and the effects of the Greek economic crisis. Some people may consider the area unsafe, but I never had trouble and think you should be fine with common sense and street awareness. Still, you might want to avoid the side streets at night, where there are many brothels. It may also not be the most comfortable place for a woman on her own.
