Golden Luxury Suites

The room had a nice balcony, and the rooftop pool offered sea views. We had booked a mountain-view room, but were given a ground-floor one facing the street and another building. That wasn't ideal, though it can happen. Breakfast was decent. The bigger issue was that many advertised services were misleading or unavailable. The advertised 24-hour reception actually only operates from 9:00 to 18:00, and we hadn't been told. There was no restaurant, just a snack bar that stayed closed all day, supposedly because of staff shortages. The sauna, which fits two people at most, was full of stored items and unusable. The “gym” was one machine in a room that felt like storage. The staff were generally kind, but communication was hard because their English was poor. Management heard our concerns but offered no real fix, and eventually said we could leave if we weren’t happy. For the price, it was disappointing. You can find cheaper and more luxurious accommodation nearby.

Suite 10 had a lovely ocean view from the ground floor, and the location was fabulous, near lots of great restaurants and beaches. The modern room and bathroom were both in good shape, and the AC worked perfectly. Free parking was just around the corner. We asked for fresh towels each day and got them without any trouble, and they let us check out late at 3pm.

The terrace was lovely, and the bedding was very comfortable, but the room we got was a real disappointment. We stayed two nights in September at Golden Luxury Suite and were assigned room 10, a 15 sq. m double room instead of the 40 sq. m suite in the description. There was no room to open our luggage, no sofa bed as advertised, and the balcony was only 2 sq. m. It wasn’t the « junior suite » we expected, and it definitely didn’t feel like a Golden Luxury Suite experience. The swimming pool was very small, too. At checkout, the manager wouldn’t offer much of a gesture, just a 10% discount. I’d strongly recommend checking the room size in advance, and the website needs updating.

The hotel is a lovely new boutique place above Bali harbor, and our two-bedroom suite was great, with a useful extra room. We had a hiccup at the start: after booking through Booking, we arrived to find the hotel had neither our reservation nor an empty room. Maybe the new hotel’s reservation systems weren’t properly linked. We found somewhere else for two nights, then returned for the rest of our stay. The manager was very apologetic. Booking directly might be better for the hotels anyway.
