Troulis Aparthotel

The hotel staff were incredibly friendly and took care of everything we needed, which made for a brilliant holiday. Our deluxe sea-view apartment was spacious and new, with a BIG balcony. There weren’t many plug sockets in the living room, and the shower sometimes ran short of hot water. But in Crete’s weather, I didn’t mind a cooler shower.

The bay below the hotel was a real plus for us, with a fine sandy beach and good sunbeds. Part of it belongs to Mambo Beach restaurant, where we ate every day. The location is excellent, and we felt comfortable overall. The staff were very kind and accommodating. The rooms have a lovely modern boho style and everything we needed, though the bay view wasn’t as nice as we’d hoped because it looked out first onto a cluttered backyard. That’s just the hotel’s location. We also didn’t enjoy the breakfast, so we only ate it once. The hotel is very noisy: our room was right below the breakfast terrace, and from 7:30 a.m. we could hear chairs moving and flip-flops clattering on the stairs. We’d booked a deluxe apartment with sea view. They first put us in the largest apartment in that category, on the ground floor, with a big terrace facing the street. We didn’t feel safe leaving a window open overnight because someone could have climbed in. The staff handled our concern kindly and moved us to a first-floor apartment the next day. For the price, it’s a nice hotel.

Everything we needed was close by, including shops, tavernas, and a bus stop with connections to Rethymno and Heraklion. The hotel is near a beautiful bay with lovely scenery and great sea conditions. I was very happy with my stay, and the staff were extremely welcoming and friendly.

The location on the hill near the sea gave us wonderful views, and our renovated room was clean, comfortable, and had a small kitchen for preparing meals. Housekeeping kept everything tidy. The food was fresh and delicious, and the kitchen staff were always smiling and kind. We felt welcome right away, especially thanks to Nicholas at reception. He helped us with everything, from dinner suggestions and car rental to explaining how things worked around the hotel. We enjoyed chatting with him throughout the stay, and he came to feel like a close friend. If we visit Bali in Crete again, we’d happily stay at Troulis Aparthotel.
