Manos Palace

The apartment was very clean, with a comfortable bed in the bedroom, another bed in the other room, a sofa, kitchenette, and terrace. Housekeeping washed the floors every two days or more often, and changed the towels and sheets after three or four days. The kitchenette came with just a frying pan, a large pot, a kettle, plates, and cutlery for three. The owner was welcoming and smiling, and provided most of the extra things we asked for so we could cook; we bought the rest at nearby shops. The location is handy, a three to five minute walk from the beach and tavernas, and close to supermarkets. The little bay near the hotel is especially nice for families with kids. Breakfast was included and served from 8:30 to 10 each morning. It was acceptable, mostly European food, with eggs, meats, cheese, vegetables, milk, coffee, cookies, sometimes fruit, and Greek pie on some mornings. The coffee had a papery taste, though the rest was okay, and the restaurant's view is stunning. It was an acceptable stay, maybe a bit overpriced for what’s offered. The owners are friendly and try to help however they can. I once asked for lemon for my tea, and they had it for me the next day. The hotel was clean and well maintained, and my sister and I found our week there just right. Our studio had enough room for two, in this compact little gem. Breakfast is Greek-style, so don’t expect a standard continental spread. The local savory pies were delicious, and there were local sweets and Greek yogurt too. Try those and you won’t leave hungry. Shops, a pharmacy, travel agency, and car rental are all next door, with the beach only a short walk away. Although the hotel is on the main road and there’s a local disco at the beach at night, the terrace door shuts out the noise really well. I’d go back anytime, and hope I will.

The hotel is in a handy spot for exploring Crete by rental car, and it’s also right by the sea if you just want to relax. There’s a pool beside the hotel and a terrace upstairs for sunbathing. It seems suitable for couples, families, and travelers. Our first-floor room had a view of the beach and a balcony with a table, two chairs, and a place to dry wet clothes. It was lovely for relaxing with wine after a long day. There was even an ashtray on the balcony, which I appreciated as a smoker since that’s rare these days. The room also had a small kitchen with the necessary appliances, a hairdryer, and a safe. Everything was very clean. Manos Palace is family-run, and the family members all work there and look after each guest. The owner’s wife was such a sweetheart, always smiling and ready to help. We had the morning breakfast, which was delicious and well prepared, with a stunning view of the mountain and beach.

We spent a week at Manos Palace Hotel in June 2023, and would stay there again. The staff were kind and really tried to make us comfortable. We arrived from the airport at 8:30 in the morning and were able to get into our room by 9:30, earlier than usual. Our studio had everything needed for simple cooking, and the appliances were new and in good condition. The room was very clean. Someone came each day to clean, including the room and bathroom, and the sheets and towels were changed three times that week. Breakfast was good, better than at other hotels we’ve stayed at in Greece.
