Marvida Boutique Niriides Beach

The grandmother of the family really stays with us in memory. Even at her advanced age, she was there every day, helping wherever she could and bringing warmth and a down-to-earth feeling to the hotel. Her daughter-in-law told us she sleeps only five hours a night and gives so much of herself to the house and its guests. She deserves all the respect and recognition, she’s truly the heart of the place. That same personal care comes through across Niriides Beach Hotel. It’s family-run, and the owners look after guests themselves. From arrival, it felt warm, genuine, and far removed from anonymous mass tourism. The whole team was friendly, attentive, and caring, with guests’ well-being clearly a priority. Nothing felt rehearsed, and staff noticed our wishes and met them with a smile. We loved the food at every meal. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner were fresh, varied, and high quality, with many ingredients from the hotel’s own garden. You can taste that freshness. Instead of the usual dull hotel dishes, there were homemade Greek specialties. The all-inclusive drinks selection was good too, from cold refreshments to local specialties, and staff made sure no one went thirsty. This was undoubtedly the most beautiful time of our lives. Niriides Beach Hotel is so much more than somewhere to stay, with an authenticity and warmth that are hard to find. If we return to Crete, we’ll stay nowhere else. It feels like a hidden gem you almost hesitate to share in case it gets too popular, though anyone lucky enough to experience it will understand. Thank you to the whole Niriides Beach family and team for a time we’ll never forget!

The family behind Niriides are what made the meal special. They remembered our names, asked how our day was, and treated us with such care. We first came for the beachfront view, then returned for a second night in a row because we enjoyed the food and the people so much. The menu brings authentic Greek cooking with a lot of finesse. The grilled octopus was melt-in-your-mouth tender, the village salads crisp, and the rich moussaka tasted like a recipe passed down through generations. A lovely mix of comforting and elevated.

We stopped at Bali in Crete for lunch and a swim between Heraklio and Prevali valley, drawn by the idea of the place. The location was gorgeous, and our restaurant host was even lovelier. She made us feel so welcome, and the salad was the best we’d had in Greece. It was so good that we stopped in again on our way through two weeks later. Highly recommend.

The fresh food was so good, and sitting by the sea made for a lovely dinner. We ate here tonight, everything was amazing, and the woman at the bar was so sweet. I’d definitely recommend giving this place a try!
