Kerkyra Beach Apartments

The accommodation was a disappointment from the moment we arrived. We got there in the evening without any directions for finding the property, and our room was unbearably hot. There was a bin bag by the door, and as a staff member picked it up, she said, “You’re lucky they cleaned your room.” That’s no way to greet paying guests, whatever the language barrier. Breakfast was another problem. The hours were reasonable, but the food was left sitting in the July heat without cooling trays for ham, salami, or eggs. The quality was poor and the hygiene unacceptable, which felt like a real health risk. We also saw a family with children arrive near the end of breakfast time and have the dining room door shut in their faces. A few minutes later, another guest was served without any issue. The treatment seemed unfair and inconsistent. The listing said “fully equipped,” but there was no shower gel, no iron, and staff couldn’t even lend one. The cooker and washing machine were filthy and mouldy, and didn’t look usable. There wasn’t even a bottle of water on arrival, which would have been a basic help for late arrivals who might not be able to get to a shop. The terrace also closes at 7 PM, so guests can’t sit outside in the summer evening or get some fresh air. At 8:45 AM we asked about a refund, giving them plenty of time to discuss it or reply. We were told the owner would let us know that night. When we came back later, one staff member walked off and another stayed on the phone for 15 minutes while we waited. Nobody replied or showed any courtesy or professionalism. Basic decency was missing. We were tired and disappointed and had no choice but to stay, but we aren’t enjoying it. We weren’t expecting luxury, yet this place wasn’t cheap. Nearby hotels like Riviera Hotel offer much better service and a cleaner, more welcoming stay for the same price. It’s not worth the money or the peace of mind. I’ll never return and can’t recommend it to anyone.

I stayed in the newer Corfu Gold Luxury Suites section, which is separate from the older Kerkyra Beach compound. The rooms there were lovely, clean, new, and well maintained, with no bed bugs. The air conditioning worked as long as all the windows and doors were shut. There was a small kitchen with a fridge, coffee machine, kettle, washing machine, and induction hob, making it great for a family with two children. Breakfast was the weak point: limited options and very poor quality food.

For what we paid, it was okay, but the room didn’t look like the photos. The property has two sections, the somewhat nicer “luxury suites” and the run-down “Kerkyra Beach Hotel.” Our room was cramped, with the oven sticking out, two single beds instead of a proper double, and sheets that weren’t very clean. Breakfast was awful and definitely not worth the 10€ per person. The reception was unattended about half the time, though the staff were friendly when someone was there. The pool was closed most evenings, so we only got to use it once during our week. Don’t expect much from this place.

The staff were super friendly and the pool was good. Getting around by bus can be difficult since the island is so big, so I’d recommend having a car. Also, don’t run the washing machine, it’s really noisy.
