Amphora Hotel

Set in the heart of old Chania town, this is a wonderful hotel in a historic building. The high ceilings make the most of the rooms. You can hear a little chatter through the doors, but it's minimal, especially for an old building. The staff were very helpful, and the rooftop terrace is lovely in the evening.

We spent three days here on our honeymoon and loved it. The hotel looks over the harbor and is an easy walk to everywhere in the old town. Our spacious room had a high ceiling, and its bathroom was easily the nicest we had in Chania. The shower felt luxurious. We also had a balcony with a beautiful harbor view, and were glad we paid a bit more for it. We spent lots of time there in the sun or having wine after dinner. There's also a large rooftop lounge with tables and chairs for taking in the view and weather, plus a restaurant downstairs with lots of options. The staff left a complimentary bottle of wine and flower petals in our room as a honeymoon gift. That was a lovely gesture and much appreciated. Housekeeping was the most efficient we've ever encountered: we stepped out for half an hour and came back to a clean room and fresh towels. We'd highly recommend the hotel to anyone visiting Chania.

The location is hard to beat, right by the water near the old bay, with restaurants and shops all around. Even so, the hotel feels relaxed. I loved its character, especially the courtyard and winding hallways. My room was spacious and clean, and the AC felt amazing after a hot day at the beaches. The staff treated me like family, and breakfast was amazing too. My room faced the bay; I didn't find it very noisy, though light sleepers might want earplugs or a mini sound machine. The water view is worth it. I really enjoyed my stay and will absolutely return.

The staff were nice, breakfast was good, and the hotel offers good value for money. It’s simply decorated but has everything you need, in a beautiful old port that's also crowded. The house has old wooden floors, so you might hear the neighbours a little, though it was all quite manageable.
