Belmondo Hotel

The staff were kind and attentive, and their email before I arrived was reassuring. After leaving, I realized I’d left my coat in the cupboard. They kept it safe until I could collect it four days later, and communication by email was easy. The hotel itself is in a very pretty spot in Chania old town, close to the square by the harbour. You reach the first-floor entrance via lovely stone steps beside a marble lion carving and an Italian restaurant. I was annoyed that I couldn’t upload photos.

Breakfast was generous, fresh, and delicious, with a different selection each day. It was served from 8 to 10 am, and a call to reception brought it to the room. There was no menu to choose from, but we typically had eggs, fruit, yogurt, bread, pastry, and a pot of coffee. The in-room Nespresso machine was a nice extra for a quiet coffee break. Staff were especially friendly and helpful, and I’d stay again next time I’m in Chania. The hotel is right in the center of the old town. Its entrance is upstairs on the first floor above a restaurant, with a street-level sign that made it easy to spot. The historic building has been thoughtfully modernized, including strong air conditioning and a comfortable, well-equipped bathroom. Our classic room was quiet and restful, without a city or harbor view, though the small bathroom window offered a pleasant little view.

The port location is ideal, with local restaurants and bars close by. Our room was clean and comfortable, and the bathroom facilities were excellent. The staff are very friendly, and breakfast is well worth the €10. We’d gladly stay again.

Even when my vacation didn’t go to plan, this hotel and its team gave me a safe place to stay. As a woman traveling alone, I felt secure, comfortable, and cared for. The breakfast was amazing, the cleaning was consistently good, and the admin staff and owner made everything feel easy, warm, and cosy. I’m very thankful for the comfort they gave me from start to finish. I’d absolutely recommend it. ☀️
