Civitel Akali Hotel

We spent five days there, and the room felt like home, with a very clean space and comfortable bedding. Every meal was delicious and cooked just right. The chef even made us a fantastic chicken and vegetable casserole as a special meal. I wish it were on the regular menu! Breakfast was really tasty every day, and the conference was great. My room was serviced beautifully daily, and the staff were friendly and helpful. I had a great stay, though it would have been nice if the pool opened earlier than 9am. Thank you.

I liked this hotel and had no major complaints, though I have a few bits of feedback. Before my stay, I wrote to ask for a quiet room because an illness I have is triggered by poor sleep. I knew some rooms face the main road and can be noisy. They replied quickly and confirmed a quiet room, and I was given one overlooking the pool. I slept peacefully every night. The room was small, with barely enough space to walk around, but it was in good condition and the bathroom was a decent size and clean. The AC was noisy but worked well, and the Wi-Fi in the room was excellent. Breakfast was good, though much the same each day. Housekeeping staff were very nice and cheerful. Service overall was just okay, nothing special. The breakfast staff were fine, but at times didn't seem to do much. They only cleared my used plates once, and when they offered hot drinks at the table that one time, they had coffee but didn't offer hot water for tea. Reception staff nodded when I passed, though they weren't very smiley. The location depends on what you're looking for. It's handy for shopping and exploring the Old Town, all within 10-20 minutes. For the beach, it's less convenient, with the nearest one about 20-30 minutes away on foot. One issue was the municipality tax. Reception should take payment at check-in or remind guests they'll owe it at checkout. I was surprised by a 70 euro bill at the end, after spending my travel budget. My travel agent had buried that information in the fine print, and the charge left a sour taste after an otherwise pleasant stay. I also wish reception had told me at check-in about the free parking garage across the street, which is exclusively for hotel guests. There are a few spaces next to and in front of the hotel, but they fill quickly since nobody checks that they're only used by guests, and two are reserved for management. Not knowing about the garage meant I struggled to find parking every day, which was stressful after long drives and days exploring. I could have asked, but didn't, especially since people discussing the hotel seemed to mention only the spaces beside it. It would have helped to get practical information about parking and the municipality tax at check-in. For housekeeping, please let guests keep their shower caps for the whole stay or replace them if they're taken away. If there's only half a roll of toilet paper left, leave an extra one, and replace beach towels after use. I had to ask for those things. Asking wasn't a problem, but it would have been nice not to have to.

Everything felt spotless, from the lovely hotel to the clean rooms. The service was excellent at both reception and in the dining room. A special thank you to Alexandros, who responded to every request right away and was always ready to help. His care for guests really stood out.
