EdgeWater Beach Hotel

Nea Chora's sandy beach was a highlight for me. There's plenty of fish to spot if you like snorkeling, and the promenade has lots of restaurants. Since there's a fishing harbour beside the beach, I thought the fish dishes were the best. Chania itself, with even more restaurants and bars, is about a 20-minute walk away. We spent 10 nights at the hotel, right beside the beach, which I think is the best one near Chania town. It had only been open a few months and the hotel and resort were spotless. Eleni the manageress and all the staff were helpful. Breakfast had lots of choice, with a nice view over the beach, and the hotel provided free sunbeds and parasols. A great place in a perfect spot.

The beach was so easy to reach from the hotel, and since it's not very deep, we could pop back to our room for the loo or a quick break without any hassle. There's plenty of good food nearby, and the Old Town is about a 10-minute walk away, with lots of character and even more places to eat. We also trained at a well-equipped gym just around the corner, and the owner was lovely. Our room, 503, was one of the best we've ever stayed in: huge, with an amazing wraparound balcony, table and chairs, deck chairs, and even a day bed with side tables. It was lovely to relax there at any time of day. The sea is just metres from the entrance, the view is stunning, and the hotel can reserve sunbeds for you in advance. Everyone we met was friendly and accommodating, even with our slightly awkward requests. They went above and beyond and bought extra pillows just for us. We had a brilliant stay, with fantastic service and an unbeatable location. I'd highly recommend it, especially if you can get room 503.

The rooms are huge, and the service was epic. You get a great feel for the place both day and night, with a swimmable beach right there and complimentary chairs from the hotel. The location is right on the water, but you can still find a little peace. Remember to factor in how much money you'll save each day on beach chairs!

Parking came with our reservation, and breakfast was simple but good. Our immaculate room had a gorgeous balcony overlooking the mountains. The staff were warm and attentive, going out of their way to make the visit memorable. The hotel is steps from clear water, with breathtaking views of the Aegean Sea. It also makes for a peaceful beach break while still being a pleasant walk from the lively charm of Chania's Old Town. We loved our stay.
