El Greco

The public car park about 100m away made parking easy for us. It had spaces every time, even in July/August, and the longest we waited was 10 minutes. El Greco Hotel itself was charming and very comfortable, my favourite of the trip. The woman at reception, who I think was the owner, greeted us with a huge smile and a warm welcome every day. The women in the kitchen were friendly too, and made an outstanding breakfast each morning. If you're after a welcoming place right in the heart of Chania, this is a lovely choice.

The hotel has a high standard and looks freshly renovated. Our spacious room had air conditioning and a small refrigerator, and breakfast was good quality. It's in the old town, with shops and restaurants right nearby. There's also a beach close by and a bus stop.

The staff deserve special praise. They were easygoing and understanding about everything, always smiling and ready to help. The food was fresh and tasty every morning. From the hotel, it was a five-minute walk to Chania's central square and just two or three minutes to the port, one street away. Everything felt otherworldly.

Everyone at the hotel was friendly, sincere, polite, and helpful. The rooftop pub had a nice view and affordable prices. The hotel is in the old town, with easy access to everywhere. Our room was clean, the bed and pillows were comfortable, and it was made up every day. Breakfast had lots of options, and I especially liked the local olives.
