Elysia Boutique Hotel

I spent five nights at Elysia Hotel and felt especially welcome as a solo traveler. The staff were friendly, handled requests promptly, and the service, food, and accommodations were all stellar. I chose it after weeks of looking for somewhere central with a restaurant and good amenities, and it delivered on those priorities. It was completed last year, so everything is newly built, with classy wood finishes and earthy colors. I’ll definitely return to Elysia Hotel next time I’m in Chania.

The breakfast became something we looked forward to every morning, and there were plenty of luxurious food options. They were also very accommodating with dietary needs and allergies, including gluten free. We stayed over Christmas for a week, and the room we upgraded to was beautiful, spotless, and just right for a cozy, restful holiday. The staff’s warmth and attention to detail made us want to come back soon. They were already looking after us before arrival, emailing the dinner menu while we were in a taxi after our delayed flight. The hotel’s location is incredible, and it really felt like a five star stay. We couldn’t have asked for a better Crete holiday.

The hotel made our time in Crete feel extra special. It’s new, thoughtfully designed, spotless, and peaceful, even with the bars and dining downstairs. We loved the base room: comfortable bed, good air conditioning, robes, beach towels and a bag, daily sweet treats, and a minibar replenished each day with non-alcoholic drinks. Breakfast was a calm start, with local and Western choices and great coffee. The location is hard to beat. We thought this was the best side of the old town, with great places to eat and a lively atmosphere. It’s two minutes from the old port and shopping, and evening walks felt enjoyable and safe. Taxis can drop off and pick up right outside. We found free parking for our hire car five minutes away, in car parks or side streets outside the old town zone. The staff were as good as those at any top hotel we’ve stayed in. They anticipated what we needed, packed breakfast for an early start, helped with hire cars and transfers, and shared tips for our stay. They were genuinely lovely people who seem to love their work. We loved the breakfast, and the room was comfortable and really clean. Everyone on staff was helpful and friendly. The hotel is also well placed for the harbor, restaurants, and shops. My husband and I would stay here again when we’re back in Chania.
