We paid in full for this property through AirBnB, then booked our flights. After that, we were told our dates weren’t available, even though the listing was still being advertised. AirBnB said the refund would take 10 to 14 days. It seems the owner advertises through several sites, hosts, and agents, but doesn’t keep track when one of them books the property. Edit 7/8/24: The owner has contacted us privately several times asking us to change this review. We’re still waiting for around £750 of the money back after booking dates on AirBnB that were shown as available. It clearly spoiled the short summer holiday we’d hoped for, and the owner is trying to manipulate negative reviews.

We had a lovely break from the heat in this peaceful, secluded little two-bedroom house in a mountain village, overlooking Chania bay. The large terrace has incredible views of the Lefka Ori mountains. Demetris was a welcoming, resourceful host. The pool he built with shipyard features in mind was a dream for both kids and adults, with breathtaking views while you swim.

Even though it’s a popular tourist spot, there are lovely restaurants and bars, and it’s especially beautiful in the off-season. The bay is great for swimming, with other beaches you can reach on foot or by car. There’s a supermarket near the beach. Prices are about like Germany, and sometimes a little cheaper.
