Everyone on the staff made us feel welcome and helped arrange day trips to Elafonissi and Rethymno. The hotel is close to everything, whether we wanted a morning run by the port, swimming and shopping in the afternoon, or dinner at night. My wife and I spent five nights at the Splanzia this fall, and we’d easily return. The breakfasts were generous and well made, whether we ate in the cozy back garden or inside the front lobby. Our room was immaculate, the bed was comfortable, and the walk-in shower had strong water pressure. The wi-fi was strong too. I spent several mornings writing on the rooftop terrace, tucked away from the street but open to the skies and sounds of Chania. If we could give this hotel 10 stars, we would. Best hotel in Chania? I wouldn’t be surprised.

Nikos and his family run Splanzia Boutique Hotel with so much kindness and care. The hotel is very well placed right at the entrance to the old town, and there’s parking in front. Our room was clean and well equipped, with a lovely garden view. Breakfast in the garden was amazing, all local products cooked recently. We spent five nights here and truly enjoyed it. Highly recommended!

The homemade breakfast was generous and delicious, an absolute joy. Yiannis and Nikos gave some of the most dedicated and enthusiastic service I’ve experienced in Crete or Greece. The rooms are cozy and comfortable, and the private courtyard in this heritage house is a quiet little refuge in a perfect location. It’s one of Chania’s best kept secrets, a boutique hotel that keeps delivering the same high quality year after year.

Nico and Yanis went to a lot of trouble to save our car from being towed. That kind of hospitality was unforgettable, and reminded me of what I’d experience in my home country, India. They were amazing hosts. I’d definitely visit Xania again and stay here.

A quiet hotel with nice, clean rooms and really helpful staff. It’s a great base for exploring Chania. Just be aware there’s no elevator, so contact the staff if stairs are difficult for you.
