The room was a little small, but it met our needs. We had two double beds on split levels, a very good mattress, and a rooftop hot tub with sunbeds and a table area. Bigger rooms are available. The cleaner was very good, and the owner responded quickly. It’s good value, with the main square by the church right nearby. The harbour is a five-minute walk and the beach about 20 minutes away. It’s quiet by 11 pm, with people starting work around 8 am, so there’s plenty of time to sleep. Now that I know the area, I’d probably stay closer to the beach or among the alleys. Depending on what you’re after, the location might feel like a four- or five-star choice. I’d recommend the place.

Sofilikis welcomed me and was friendly, with lots of knowledge about the local area. There’s no formal reception, but the staff stay in touch to coordinate your arrival and hand over the keys. We stayed in the “Gold” Suite, one of three separate suites in our building. It has two floors and sleeps up to four. Downstairs there’s a bathroom, small couch, mini fridge, kitchenette, bed and private terrace with a jacuzzi. Upstairs is a bedroom, another private bathroom and a terrace with lounge chairs. The hotel is beyond amazing. I highly recommend the Golden Suite, and you won’t be disappointed. It’s leagues above the Intercontinental Hotel in Athens.

The gutter backed up and left our two-storey suite smelling disgusting. The owner took no responsibility and sent an employee who couldn’t fix anything. Rusty nails were sticking out of the decking by the hot tub, and the place felt rushed, with terrible finishing. Really awful experience. I wouldn’t recommend it.

Exploring the old town of Chania was a dream, and staying at Vener Luxury Suites made our honeymoon feel perfect. The hospitality was amazing. I’d recommend this place to anyone, 10/10.

The soundproofing is good, and the private rooftop jacuzzi was lovely to come back to after a day of exploring. The location is very good, right by the church.
