We shared the villa with another couple while we were in Crete. It’s really spacious, and we especially liked relaxing on the upper patio in the evenings. The pool was clean and great after a hot day out exploring. Some parts look a little worn, but overall we liked the villa. There were lots of kitties in the driveway too. They were super cute and friendly, and kept away from the main outdoor areas.

The views from the first floor are priceless, with Chania and the coastline on one side and snowy mountains on the other. My partner, our dog and I spent a month here through November, and the property and its aesthetic are stunning. The house and grounds are very large, with lots of different rooms. The owner Stephanos was incredibly helpful, and the kitchen was stocked with food and drinks when we arrived. His restaurant and activity recommendations were spot on. The price felt worth it for our stay, and it was the perfect home for our trip to Greece.

Mr. Stefanos, the owner, was a great person and really helpful with what we needed. Villa Malaxa has beautiful interior decoration, and the outdoor area is lovely too. The balcony view is breathtaking. We had an incredible experience!

The villa rep was professional and communicated well, so I’m surprised they don’t seem to see the extensive problems. The condition and cleanliness of Villa Malaxa really let us down. It’s being marketed as a luxury villa, but in its current state it isn’t one. The photos don’t accurately show what it’s like in reality, with almost everything badly worn, tired, or in disrepair. Approach with caution, and see the pics. Such a shame.

A fantastic view and a lovely place to stay in a village that feels a world away from the tourist-packed coast. Watch out on the drive up, though. The Google-recommended road from Chania has one particularly nasty blind corner.
