Bella Cisterna

We only stayed two days, after our original hotel evacuated guests because of the wildfires. The hosts welcomed us even though we might be called back if that hotel reopened. What a lovely surprise. Beyond the big black gate is a spacious garden with trees, an orchard, and flowers, all very clean and well cared for. It was quiet, with just the Meltemi. Our room was cozy and comfortable, and breakfast came with homemade treats and a bitter marmalade made from local oranges that you can’t find elsewhere. There are scattered play areas for children and adults, and you can walk on the huge marble Cisterna water reservoir. A top-notch stay.

Maria Christina is so welcoming and will help you with anything. The hotel is cozy, historic, and warm, set in a huge orange garden with a cistern. Just keep in mind that the roads are narrow and dark, so don’t arrive in a large vehicle.

The owners were so friendly that it felt more like visiting a friend than staying at a hotel. We loved the medieval atmosphere, the spacious rooms, and the big garden with all its facilities. Breakfast was very tasty, and our stay was magnificent.

It’s peaceful and surrounded by nature, but it’s still easy to reach other interesting places on Chios. My room was cleaned to a high standard and looked out onto the trees. There was plenty to choose from at the delicious breakfast. I loved the calm, historic feel and would love to return.
