Adorno Luxury Villas

The small villa, Adorno Pequeno, is nowhere close to a “Luxury villa.” It needs serious renovation and ongoing care to look like the photos. We found it dirty, smelling of cigarette smoke, and in need of more cleaning. The pool was a cheap PVC barrel, not even a metre deep, and didn’t seem to have a proper cleaning system, so we never used it. Rusted, cheap sunbeds and plastic umbrellas made things feel worse. The garden looked abandoned, with damage and wear patched up roughly and cheaply. Metal parts were corroded, spiders had webs everywhere, and one morning there was a dead cockroach by the sofa. Luckily my wife didn’t see it, or she’d still be screaming.

George was quick to respond whenever we needed anything, both before arrival and during the stay, and the reservations team managing the property was just as helpful. The villa is in a quiet little village about 10 km from Chania. There’s a lovely public beach a couple of minutes away by car, plus a small cove used by locals within walking distance. The village has a couple of tavernas, including Irene’s, which you should try, and a supermarket open late each night for basic needs. We were five in the family and had plenty of room. The villa is modern and bright, with huge windows and a large terrace overlooking a big pool. The windows do let the place get warm despite AC in every room, so remember to close the blinds when you go out. The kitchen especially had all the modern equipment. We had a lovely, relaxing week and would happily come back.

BSD. A great, self-contained villa with a big pool, billiards, calcietto, ping pong and a barbecue area. The beach is a ten-minute walk away. Twelve points, as they say at Eurovision.

It’s really quiet here, with a good view. The house and pool are both clean.
