Sungate

The owner was so kind, always ready to chat and check that everything was okay. Staff were friendly and attentive to all the little details, and the location is great for an evening stroll, with the beach and city center nearby. This was my second stay, and since the renovation the hotel feels even cozier. I’ll gladly come back.

We really liked the 4 PM snack bar, with fries, pizza, hot dogs, gyros, and fresh fruit between meals. The hotel’s location is handy for the sights, beach, shops, and plenty of restaurants and bars, all a short walk away. The food was generally good, though I’d have liked more variety. There was always enough to eat. The cocktails were disappointing, but the bartender’s mix of local Kumquat liqueur and Sprite saved the day.

The meals were consistently good quality, with a good range of dishes. I also found Corfu SunGate Hotel comfortable and well managed. My room was clean and well kept, and it was a comfortable place to stay.

I booked the all-inclusive package for September 10th to September 19th, 2025, and had specifically told them about my food allergies. We arrived at 2:00 a.m. and reception gave us one plate each as “dinner,” but the food was something I cannot eat. I tried to let that go. Then every included drink, even the water, tasted of chlorine. I let that go too. The room looked nothing like the Booking pictures, but when I looked closer, the bathroom was dirty and full of mold, the room itself was dirty, the air conditioning was moldy, and there was hair under the sheets and on yellow pillows. I went to reception, but they said nothing could be done that night. They replaced the pillows with two even dirtier ones, one with blood on it. Because I’m allergic to mold and didn’t want to risk ending up in hospital, we slept in the car. I contacted Booking International, who told me to wait for the manager the next day. At 7:30 a.m., after more than 24 hours without sleep, I met him. He offered what he called a “suite,” but it was really a family room with the same problems as the first one. I declined and asked for a refund. After four exhausting hours of discussion with the manager and Booking, I finally got my money back and left immediately. I ran away as fast as I could. I DO NOT RECOMMEND this place. One star only because I can’t give less.
