Karda Beach Camping & Bungalows

The on-site restaurant and bar were much better than I expected, with tasty home-style cooking when we ate there once. The staff there were friendlier and more helpful than reception, and there’s a nice pool too. The location is fantastic, close to the beach and lots of bars and places to eat. On arrival, there were no instructions for disposing of grey or black water, and finding the outlet beside a flower bed was odd. It had clearly confused other campers too, as several were emptying black water in the sanitary facilities. Those facilities are really old, badly scaled, and sometimes flood, but they work and the water is hot.

It’s an okay site in a good spot near the beach, among the 5 star hotels. It’s clean, but extremely dated. I’d guess it was built in the 1970s and hasn’t had a penny spent on it since.

There are only 3 official campsites on Corfu. Panteokarpitsa and Dyonis don’t have beach access. Karda is the only one with direct access to the beach, a 5-minute walk, but it’s the most expensive at 50 euro for 4 persons with a car and tent. At nearby Dyonis, you can rent a 4 places bungalow for 48 euro, but there’s no beach. So the choice is yours. In the middle of July there were lots of free pitches with electricity. The camp is very big, so I’m sure you can always find a free spot.

The bathrooms and showers were clean, and there’s a spot to cook and eat. The owner was really nice and paid attention to what guests needed. The waterfront view is lovely, though getting in from the main road is quite steep. I worried a bit about making it back up. We’d come again if we’re in this part of Greece.
