Hermes Delphi Hotel

A dated, very basic hotel. Breakfast was poor, with no fruit, and the coffee was really bad.

Our room looked out over the valley, and breakfast was beautiful. A lovely, clean hotel with a Greek feel.

From the restaurant, you get the same postcard-like views as from the rooms. Breakfast is complimentary from 7:30 am, with a varied spread of Greek and continental options, and you can eat outside on the restaurant balcony when it’s warm enough. Check-in and check-out were calm, without crowds, and the staff service was excellent. Reception staff speak French, English, and Greek, which helps everyone feel welcome. There’s also a small shop inside Hermes Hotel with clothing for men and women and souvenirs in different sizes, plus a discount for hotel guests. Hermes 3-Star Hotel has a picturesque, once-in-a-lifetime view over the mountain range and surrounding waterways. It has an idyllic, family-run feel, with wooden interiors, marble floors, and detailed balcony railings. It’s on a fairly central street in Delphi, the village that was once the ancient center of the Greek world, among other businesses and hotels. Other places of interest are within walking distance.

I was 17 and had finished a long day of touring when I got thirsty around midnight and wanted to run out for water. I was told the hotel was locked for the night, so I climbed out through a back window to reach a supermarket that was still open. At the front of the strip, the owner caught up with me and berated me, threatening to call the police. Later, other people in our touring group came back after a long night out, and he let us in through the front, telling us to keep quiet. We had a small issue with the door and were quietly discussing how to fix it when the owner burst into a room full of boys and girls who were minors, shouting that he’d kick us out and ordering us to sleep. It was deeply upsetting, especially for one of my fellow tourists who was just coming out of the bathroom. I would not recommend this to anyone expecting privacy, respect, or the freedom to leave a building when they want.
