Stodasos is a 240m2 stone chalet set on a privately owned 8-acre estate beside the Parnassos forest. It’s described as a forest “refuge,” with design awards, handmade construction, and 10/10 ratings on Booking and AirBnb for six years running. Two rooms, each with its own internal bathroom, make it suitable for four people. It’s offered as an AirBnb-style short-term rental for people who are comfortable staying close to nature in a stone-built home. There’s no artificial environment between the property and the forest, so wildlife can come right up to it: insects, lizards, birds, squirrels, wolves, wild boars, hares, deer, wild horses, badgers, weasels, foxes and others. Because it’s in the forest, strict rules govern flames from the fireplace, candles and barbecue, to protect visitors and the forest. Outdoor lighting is managed to avoid disturbing nocturnal wildlife. There’s no TV, satellite receiver, Wi-Fi or other technology that could change its natural forest character. Guests are invited to connect with nature, leave behind an egocentric urban mindset and relax in the forest. This is not an urban property, and it won’t suit people bothered by animals, pebbles or dust from the stone walls, or those who aren’t ready for a more natural experience. The owner and administrator says they don’t provide free stays to people who influence public opinion or seek “different additional services” beyond the short-term rental, with a threat to leave a negative review such as 1/5.
