Aianteion Bay Hotel Salamina

The hotel gives you a lot for a modest price: the rooms are comfortable and well equipped, the team is kind and reliable, breakfast has plenty of choice and good quality, and there's easy access to a clean, beautiful swimming area. There's also a lovely 2km path along the water for a walk. Getting around is the weak point. It's a little isolated, especially in low season, and aside from the hotel's restaurant there's only one other nearby. Taxis are difficult to get without booking ahead, and the narrow local roads are busy and have no footpaths, so walking them isn't very relaxing. There's nowhere on the island to rent bikes.

The food was awful, and the breakfast was only just okay. Paying was a problem too: I asked for the total, was told a price, and when I went to pay by card, the woman at the desk said she'd add VAT. The price we'd agreed on had included VAT from the beginning. We'd booked two suites and a double room. The host called to ask if we could change one room, and we said no, but they changed it anyway. Staff were rarely around, and when they were, they seemed unsure what they were doing. From the top floor, we couldn't sleep because music from the rooftop garden kept going until 02.00, even after we called the front desk. A horrible hotel in every way. I'm definitely never staying there again.

We had a great dinner and drinks here, with an amazing view by the sea. The place was easy to find, and there was accessible parking. Vanggelis served us and was kind, friendly, professional, and helpful. We were completely satisfied with the service. A unique experience, and I recommend it to anyone who enjoys good food and drinks by the water.

The food was really good, but ordering at the pool or beach restaurant took a long time, and then the food took even longer to arrive. On the weekend, the rooftop bar's music and noise carried through the night and affected our sleep. Our small room on the third floor also felt cramped with two little kids, and the couch bed for them was almost too small for both. We stayed as a family for 7 days and were mostly content. The hotel is right by the sea, with a small private beach, and it was quiet and well cared for. Our room was very clean. Cleanliness, location, food, and the pool were all strong points, though these issues left us a little disappointed given the standards the hotel sets.
