Fotini's House

Fotini’s House was perfect for us. Zacharias made us feel welcome in person and had water, fruit, bread and breakfast basics ready, so we didn’t need to worry about supplies right away. He even let us stay later on our last day because no new guests were arriving, printed our boarding passes and saw us off with gifts made by his family. The house has two full bathrooms and a well-equipped kitchen. It’s bigger than the photos suggest, since there are utility and laundry rooms guests can use that aren’t shown. The 100-year-old home has been renovated with so much care and taste, and we felt comfortable the whole time. It’s in a quiet neighborhood where you can sleep well and relax on the porches without people passing by. It’s inland, in a small, quiet South Crete village with mostly local residents, but there are lots of lovely beaches just a 10-minute drive away. Heraklion airport is a convenient 60-minute drive. We’d been to the north before and were happy to explore the south this time. The stay felt serene and luxurious, with a relaxed countryside pace. We’re so glad we found this listing.

Zacharias was incredibly kind. He answered questions, shared tips, helped us find food and drinks when our flight was delayed and everything was closed, and even organized yoga mats when we asked. We were overwhelmed by his thoughtfulness and would happily return. Thanks for everything, Zacharias, and all the best! The area was another highlight. It’s a quiet, authentic Greek neighborhood rather than a touristy spot, and Matala and nice beaches are a short drive away. Fotini's House looks just like the photos, beautiful inside and out, and it felt like home as soon as we arrived. It’s clean, modern and stylish, with two terraces with comfortable loungers and a balcony looking over the landscape. The kitchen has everything you could want, from an espresso machine and juicer to a milk frother, takeaway cups, Tupperware and all the basics for cooking. We couldn’t think of anything missing. We loved our stay and can highly recommend it.

We spent a week here at the end of October and loved it. The welcome was warm, the house was impeccably clean, and it had charm inside and out. Highly recommend!!!

The host’s attentive, friendly way made us feel welcome from the start, and he was always available. We spent a week in this beautifully restored 1924 house and were delighted with it. It brings together the charm of an older home and all the modern comforts you could want. You can see the care in the restoration, with thoughtful details throughout that make the place feel cozy. We wholeheartedly recommend it and already look forward to another visit!
