We had an incredible week at this beautiful, well-equipped house, and the caretaker was the best, worth her weight in gold. It’s in a small village with three good restaurants and a little market within walking distance. The tourist beaches are nearby, but the house and its lovely outdoor space are also great for just relaxing. The view is amazing, too. One issue with the pool: quite a few tiles are coming loose, and some by the whirlpool are sharp. I cut my finger on one.

We’d booked this villa six months ahead, but two days before our trip the owner told me we couldn’t stay there. They offered us another “villa” in the middle of nowhere, which we refused, so we had to stay in a hotel. It was mid-July, when you can hardly find anything left in Crete. We were traveling with a toddler who is allergic to almost every kind of food, so we had chosen a villa where we could cook for her ourselves. Thankfully, the hotel had an amazing chef who personally took care of our child’s meals.

The view was my favorite part of this perfect, spacious house, with lots of bedrooms and a pool. The owners were kind and helped us with everything. It’s also not far from the city if you take the national road. I loved the place and will definitely visit again!
