We spent 12 days at Bivalvia Beach Plus with our two young children, and by the end we were counting down until we could leave. We’d put a lot of thought into choosing somewhere for the trip, hoping everything would go smoothly. We won’t stay there again if we return to Rhodos. The advertised cleaning every other day didn’t happen. The cleaners came just three times, and those visits barely made a difference: they changed the towels, but sand remained everywhere, the floor and mirror were dirty, the sheets weren’t changed, and the terrace was neglected. There were cockroaches too. Our son came running out of the bathroom shouting that there was one, and we later found more. We told the woman from Platea café, who had handed us the keys because there’s no reception. She smiled and nodded, but nothing was done. She wasn’t the owner. Our delegate was much more helpful and arranged another cleaning visit. The result was still poor. They sprayed something for the cockroaches, leaving the room smelling awful enough that we had to stay outside. There was also water leaking through the wall from the shower into the hallway. A technician said he’d fixed it, but after two showers the leak returned. The cleaners kept working in neighboring rooms, yet didn’t come back to ours before we left. Then, after we asked the delegate to address these problems, our son’s inflatable ring vanished from the terrace. We’d left it there throughout the holiday. We later spotted the exact same ring, with sand on it, inflated and priced at twice what we’d paid, in a local supermarket. We’d bought it in Czech republic three years earlier, and hadn’t seen it for sale anywhere on Rhodos. The supermarket man, who was also Bivalvia’s gardener, said he had lots of them but wouldn’t show us any. There was only that one on display. Another man from the supermarket lives in Bivalvia. Maybe it was a coincidence, but the whole thing felt ridiculous.

I had a lovely stay from September 15 to 22 and am very grateful to the owners and the maids. We were first given a room without a kitchen, and I couldn’t get in touch with the manager because I was having roaming problems. The maid helped by calling the manager from her own phone, and I was moved to a wonderful room with a kitchen. The hotel is right by the beach, and the room was cleaned and the towels changed daily. Best wishes to the hotel, and I hope it continues to prosper.

The place is just a short walk from the beach, about two minutes, which is closer than some resorts we’ve stayed at. Room 102 was a good size, the bed was comfortable, and the AC worked very well. Breakfast covered the usual things, including eggs, ham, butter, jam, plus coffee, tea, and juice. There’s also a store right next door, where you pick up the key. Cleaning was every other day. We didn’t have a hair dryer or iron, though I understood we could ask for them. There was only one glass, which was inconvenient sometimes. We also missed having a closet or clothes hanger, especially for a longer visit, and the safe didn’t work. Still, I thought it was very good value for the money.

We sent money through Revolut, but just a few days before our holiday was due to start, the hotel cancelled our reservation, saying an extraordinary event had happened. They never explained what it was. The only information we got was vague, along the lines of “an accident took place.” We had to find somewhere else at the last minute, and we still haven’t had our money returned. We intend to sue them. Don’t send money in advance. I don’t think they’re honest.

We booked two apartments using the pictures on the website, a Deluxe One Bedroom Apartment and a Deluxe Apartment. When we arrived, neither looked like the photos. I tried calling the number, which went through to an agency, and sent an email, but got no reply. There aren’t proper power outlets in the rooms. The air-conditioning has a very bright light, and the shades don’t block the morning light. The walls and windows let through a lot of noise, so we heard everything at night, even a neighbor’s phone vibrating. I wouldn’t recommend this place.
