Evita Alegria

The location is great, about a ten-minute walk into Faliraki, with bars and supermarkets close by. Alegria has around 50 rooms, and during our stay from 30 August to 6 September it didn't seem busy. We had no noise in our room, which was spacious and comfortable. The shower cubicle felt a little small, but I guess bathroom space is limited. Some guests mentioned night-time noise, and I suggested earplugs. People arriving or leaving during the night can sometimes cause a disturbance. We booked a room with breakfast, and both the food quality and service were excellent. Our room was by the pool with a small terrace, though we used the sunbeds on the other side of the pool. A great little hotel. We thoroughly enjoyed our week.

From our room, we could walk straight into the pool. We loved swimming at 7 am while everyone else was asleep. The rooms were clean and the towels changed regularly. It's within walking distance of town, and I'd recommend the hotel. We had a lovely week and the bar staff made us feel welcome. Stavros and Dina looked after us so well, thank you! We chose bed and breakfast and had a great selection: pastries, ham and cheese, followed by yogurt, scrambled eggs and bacon. It kept us full until 5 pm. We made the most of the pool and sunshine, not a cloud in sight.

We ended our holiday with both my sister and me seriously ill. On the day we were going home, we each ate a seafood dish made by the hotel. I'm now bedbound with food poisoning, and my sister is in hospital. It has completely ruined the holiday for us, and we won't return. Before that, there were plenty of things we liked. We stayed from the 1st of July to the 8th and would have considered booking again. The rooms were clean and modern, though in some you have to live partly out of your suitcase. The pool was clean with plenty of beds; when they ran short, staff found ways to make sure everyone had somewhere to sunbathe. There were lots of lilos in the pool, and guests shared them. Food and drinks were reasonably priced and decent, and we got free snacks and fruit every day. There are lots of nearby shops, a gorgeous bakery and a flat ten-minute walk to faliraki centre. We were on the ground floor and sometimes found ants, beetles and cockroaches. There were lots of ants, but that didn't bother us much, and once we got rid of them, they caused no more trouble.

We had such a good week on our girls holiday and would definitely come back. We were welcomed right away with drinks and fruit, and the staff were friendly and accommodating. The rooms were modern and cleaned most days.
