Mikes House Hotel

Maria made us feel welcome from the start. We got to the hotel around 2AM and were warmly received and shown to our room. The next day we met Maria, one of the owners, who was polite and happy to answer our questions. Her bar was lovely, the beer was good, and her home prepared food was even better. We chose to have a toastie each morning, and it cost next to nothing. My girlfriend and I, both 19, stayed 12 nights in August 18. The hotel was tidy and really nice, and our cosy room had the essentials, including a fridge and hairdryer, since we were in the self catering hotel side rather than the apartment side. Maria also gave us leaflets, explained what we could do nearby, and talked us through the local bus to Rhodes, an easy 20 minute ride. The place sits just off the main road, so it stayed quiet. The main strip was a two minute walk away, and it was about 10 minutes along the strip to the beach. We loved the pool too. It's a good size for inflatables or water volleyball, and since this is a fairly small apart-hotel, it stayed reasonably quiet. There was no rush for a sun bed, and most got sun all day. The rooms are simple but good value, and I'd stay again. Aircon costs an extra €7 per night, but it's worth it. The showers had no curtain, which made showering difficult. Maria and the staff were fantastic and very welcoming, and they went out of their way to cater for me as a vegan.

The pool was nice, but the old block felt dated and there was no daily cleaning. It takes 10 minutes to walk to the beach, and using the AC costs 7€/night.

We loved every minute here. The place is fantastic, and Maria, one of the owners, is a nice lady.
