Fanari Vista Suites

The views were reason enough to stay. They were wide, vibrant and always changing with the light, and the sunsets were especially striking, with colors that made the setting feel almost unreal. The rooms were comfortable and welcoming. We appreciated the complimentary snacks and the fridge stocked with water and juice. The bathroom had thoughtful extras like bathrobes, slippers, toothbrushes and toothpaste, which made things more convenient. Breakfast was plentiful, delicious and clearly prepared with care. The on-site restaurant served flavorful, affordable food, and we could enjoy it while taking in the same beautiful views. It was a lovely place to unwind and eat.

Michalis and Thimo were incredibly helpful during my two-night stay at Fanari Vista Suite. They arranged our taxi transfers and made sure everything we needed was in the suite. The staff made the service feel very personal, and the suite was impeccably clean and well located. There are plenty of shops and restaurants nearby, plus a bus terminal for trips to other cities. I had considered staying in Oia, but I'm glad I didn't. The views were amazing. I highly recommend Fanari Vista Suite!

Great place to take in Fira's views and experience the town. It's in a strategic spot, just a stone's throw from the cable car station and right above the trail to the old port. We picked up food to eat in private while looking out from our room, then had a dip in the jacuzzi. :D

Breakfast came to our private patio each day around 9am, right beside the jacuzzi. There was freshly squeezed orange juice, fruit salad, Greek yogurt with honey, several egg choices including fried, boiled, omelette and scrambled, croissants, fresh bread with honey and jam, plus drip coffee, cappuccino and another coffee option. I chose the cappuccino each morning and it was fantastic. Dimos brought it over and made us feel like family. His professionalism, attention, and knowledge of several languages were outstanding. We were lucky to experience his hospitality, and Fanari is lucky to have him. Our maid was wonderful too, cleaning well, making the bed and leaving fresh towels and linens each day. She worked around our schedule so she wouldn't disturb us and was always nice when we crossed paths. The location is right in central Fira, along the cliff, so it still feels private. The view from the suite is hard to beat for the value and service, and watching the sunsets was unreal. On a clear day you can see the sun sink beyond the sea's horizon in the distance. Shops, bars and restaurants are all within walking distance. The stairs from Fira to the Old Port run below the suites, but they were closed for construction during our stay, so I can't say how busy they'd usually be or what the donkeys are like. It was nice having no foot traffic then. Parking was difficult even in October. Public buses or taxis may be easier, especially in June-August, when I was told the island gets packed. If driving, we usually found a space in the public lot just south of Fira by the grocery store and pharmacy. The suites are about a 10-minute walk from there. There are lots of stairs, so bring a suitcase with working wheels and be prepared to lift it repeatedly. We managed, but we were a younger couple. The upstairs restaurant was excellent. We ate elsewhere too, but came back to Fanari four times because the food was delicious and fairly priced. Suite guests get 20% off, which is a great deal. I'd recommend the octopus, scallops or lamb kleftiko. They even offer blankets to guests sitting outside when it gets cold. Dimos, his brothers Ylber and Renato, and the rest of the staff were kind, professional and attentive to us and the other tables. The food and service both felt five-star. The hotel can arrange excursions, taxis and rentals, so you don't have to set everything up in advance. If you visit toward the off-season, it may be worth checking for last-minute excursions. We got a big discount on a nice daytime trip that hadn't filled up.
