Fyropotamos feels special if you want sand and sea right outside your door. Summer prices are high, much like other places around Klima or Mandrakia, but this little house sits right by one of Milos’s most beautiful beaches. The terrace steals the show, with a breathtaking view and just a couple of steps down to the water. Inside, it’s charming and comfortable, rustic and simple but tasteful. The bed is cozy, and the bathroom and shower are spacious. The kitchen’s small, though it has enough to make breakfast or a simple dinner. We picked up fruit, feta, tzatziki, and local wine at nearby markets and had a lovely meal outside by the sea.

People walk along the main path right beside the beach and can look in all day, so there’s not much privacy. When it’s windy, the beach isn’t pleasant either. For the price, this is very basic, more like glamping. Sand gets everywhere and it’s hard to keep the floor clean. The suites weren’t cleaned during our stay, and I was charged extra for towels I didn’t use. If you’re after cleanliness and privacy, this isn’t the place.

The water was even shut off for a whole day, and we had no hot water for most of our stay. If camping without basic necessities sounds fine to you, this may suit you. Otherwise, look elsewhere. The property manager should put more into the property before renting it out.

At €500+ a night in peak season, I don’t think this place is worth the price. There was no cleaning during our five nights, no fresh toiletries, and no change of sheets or towels. There’s no breakfast either. I ended up mopping the floor myself most days. That would be OK at under €100 a night. The team was helpful with check-in and arranging transfers, but that was about it. For this price, I’d rather stay at a proper boutique hotel like White Pebbles or Salt. The location is fabulous, right on Firopotamos beach, and the small, cute place has a kitchen and a terrace by the beach.

Christos made the stay unforgettable. He was kind to us and to our friends at a different property, and always quick to fix any issue. He went out of his way to help with everything. Thank you, Christos, for showing us true Greek filoxenia. We stayed in the Superior Suite, which was lovely and just right for two. We made breakfast there each morning and ate out at night. Ask Christos for recommendations, they were all so good. The bed was very comfortable, and the furnishings felt contemporary and clean. We couldn’t fault the place or get enough of it. Waking up on Firopotamos beach, one of the best spots in the Cyclades, felt like a dream. Just remember this isn’t a luxury hotel in a compound with all the latest amenities. Be patient and kind, and you’ll be glad you chose this special place for a few days. If you’re clever, you’ll stay a few weeks.
