Fiscardo Bay

There are stairs down to this hotel, so getting heavy luggage in may be awkward for some people. And while the large bath is real, the Jacuzzi system doesn't work. We've found those systems troublesome in other places too, and neither issue would stop us coming back to this quiet, brilliantly located town-centre hotel. We're quite fussy and stay in lots of hotels, and the room was genuinely top quality. It had all sorts of useful extras, including an ice maker, quality coffee machine, music system and satellite TV, little luxuries you don't usually get even in five-star London hotels. The bed was lovely, large and comfortable. We had a really nice stay.

We had a great room with a loft that worked really well for the kids, and the rooms themselves are amazing. The location was great, and our host was very friendly. I would recommend staying here. The breakfast setup with the ‘Greko’ restaurant could be better, though, since the menu has limited choices.

The room was comfortable and nice, and they gave us a good breakfast for free. Still, I wouldn't book the Anastasia Suite for its jacuzzi. It has apparently been broken for months: the manager said it had only broken the day before, the receptionist said two months, and another reviewer had mentioned it three months earlier. None of this was on the website or in the confirmation, and the receptionist didn't mention it at check-in. There was a note under the glass top on the desk in the room, and it looked like it had been there a while. They offered no discount or refund. The room temperature couldn't be adjusted even though there was a thermostat. The water wasn't very hot, perhaps because it was solar heated, and seemed hotter in the evening than the morning. Two stars because it's a nice, comfortable place, but the failure to disclose the jacuzzi problem and then the conflicting explanations cost it a lot of stars.

The breakfast, arranged somewhere else, was fab, and Kefalonia is lovely, full of honest people. This place didn't represent that at all. We had 13 lovely nights elsewhere on the island and one rubbish stay here. The room with the jucuzzi wasn't available as promised: days after booking and driving there, we were told it wasn't working. They offered a refund, but not straight away, and no alternative room. We eventually took the other room, which took three hours to get set up, including getting the Tele. working. The whole stay was a disaster. The owner or manager wasn't available to sort things out, and the promised 50 Euro refund still hasn't arrived. It could be a nice place, but the owner's horrid attitude spoiled it. Management is really nice until they've got your money. I wouldn't trust what you're told or count on problems being fixed. My advice is to stay somewhere else.
