Belvedere Hotel

Adonis gave us such a warm welcome and goodbye, and we'd happily return. The apartment was spacious, lovely, comfortable, and had a kitchenette. Chora is about a 15-minute walk away.

The room was tiny and poorly equipped. The bathroom was nice, but that was about the only positive. For the price, the stay was poor, and the place sits high up a steep, difficult hill. The reception was awful. The men running the place acted as if we were bothering them, and were despicable and unfriendly toward us. We are paying for their salaries through our bookings, and customers deserve much better treatment. There are plenty of better hotels on Folegandros. I'll never come back.

I can walk to Chora in 11 minutes, though coming back uphill from the main road takes a couple of minutes longer because I stop to catch my breath. The climb is fine for me: the view from the top is panoramic, and it's quieter up there, away from the road. This was my fourth stay at Belvedere, and I'm never ready to leave. Every apartment I've had was very comfortable, well laid out, and had far-reaching views of the sea, nearby islands, and Chora. They come with a kitchenette, mini-fridge, cooktop, kettle and utensils, plus a wardrobe with plenty of hangers, lockbox, indoor and outdoor table and chairs, bedside lamps, desk or dressing table, TV, AC/heat, and a modern bathroom. The thick stone walls may sometimes interfere with Wi-Fi. The two hosts are friendly and easygoing. I enjoy stopping by for a chat and coffee. Port pickup and drop-off are included, along with daily cleaning.

The owner and staff were helpful, friendly, and discreet. They cleaned daily, and changed the linen and towels every other day. Our rooms were spacious, quiet, and clean, with lovely views. There's a short walk to Chora, and the steep uphill road people mention wasn't too bad for us, though it could be an issue if you have mobility problems. A couple of lovely cats kept us company on our little veranda.
