Galaxy Hotel

Costas was pleasant and helpful, and the hotel was very clean. I would gladly stay again, though next time I'd bring a travel kettle since I missed having coffee early in the morning. When I asked, I was told the coffee shop doesn't open then. The room was airy, bright, and spacious, with a full-size fridge, an en suite bathroom with a powerful shower and lots of hot water, air conditioning, and a small balcony. The balcony door had an unusual design that opened from the side or the bottom. The port is directly across the road, which made catching ferries easy. There was an expensive food supermarket just steps away, plus a cheaper one farther along the way. A bakery nearby was handy for coffee, bread, and sweet treats. A taxi to Batsi cost €15 each way.

It's very cheap and close to both restaurants and the ferry terminal. The place is basic but adequate.

The sea-facing rooms are the ones I'd pick. They're quiet, have a small balcony, and catch a nice breeze. This is a lovely family-run hotel, and the owner was especially kind. We had booked three nights but arrived a day late, and he changed our reservation to two nights on his own, without asking questions or mentioning a penalty. Just very generous Greek hospitality.

We checked in during November and found no blankets. The air conditioning wouldn't heat the room, and we had to switch on the boiler for hot water, something nobody had explained to us. There was also no one at reception to help. A disappointing stay. I'd only stay here if I couldn't find anywhere else to sleep.
