We only stayed one night, but it couldn't have been more relaxing. The beach, tavernas, and cafes are all within a four-minute walk. The pool area was great, with new sunbeds and mattresses. Until next time....

What stood out most was how easy it was to relax here while still having everything close by. Island Villa sits on a peaceful side street in Kavros, a short walk from the sandy beach, shops, supermarket, bakery, cafes, tavernas, and even the village doctor and pharmacy. There’s a bus stop nearby, and you can get to Rethymno or Chania by bus or car. Georgioupoli, Lake Kournas, and the local villages are also convenient for outings. There’s a bike rental close to the villa, plus affordable car hire, guided trips, and a little train tour around the area. Syrmalenia and Manolis made us feel welcome straight away. Their warmth and attention to the small details made the stay feel more like visiting friends than booking a place to sleep. The villa is made up of separate apartments, each with its own kitchen, bathroom, and living space. They’re clean, nicely furnished, and equipped for cooking. That arrangement worked well for groups, families, and couples: you can have your own space, then meet up by the pool, in the garden, or on the terrace. A lovely mix of privacy and time together.
