Mare Garden

The local area is lovely, with fairly priced places to eat and friendly, helpful locals. I’d come back to Crete, but definitely not this hotel. It doesn’t feel all inclusive at all, more like half inclusive, with money traps everywhere. The drinks selection is very limited, and the snack bar is pathetic, basically nonexistent. You can get drinks at the sister site but can’t sit there, only take them away. The bar is meant to be open until 11 for all inclusive, but most nights it stops at 10 when there are shows. The actual rooms are in another building with no signs, so you have to find your own way. There’s no lift, and we had to haul luggage up three flights of stairs. The restaurant is down the street. Rooms are supposedly cleaned daily, but that didn’t happen. There’s no full-length mirror or bathroom plug, which made getting ready and using hair tools difficult. We got two tiny bottles of water and limited amenities that weren’t restocked. The WiFi is crap and keeps dropping out. There aren’t nearly enough pool sunbeds, so people reserve them with towels and disappear for hours. You also have to pay extra for beach sunbeds. The food is standard. Some staff are so rude and act like they don’t want to be there. This is definitely not a 4-star hotel!
