We didn't enjoy the isolated, pool-focused kind of holiday this place suits. The beach is so rocky that going into the sea without shoes is nearly dangerous. The hotel is outside the village, and getting around without a car is really difficult. It's beside a main road, so the noise makes sitting on the balcony unpleasant. The owner seemed very shy, which surprised us after our experiences with Greek people. We asked about local places and cultural specialties, but he couldn't answer. It was too bad to have to spend time here. We had no choice because the hotel we'd booked was overbooked and this was the alternative they gave us.

A small, cozy hotel on Crete's northern coast, with nothing much nearby but peace and quiet. Highly recommended. You will definitely need a car, though. Paralia Kourna is too far to reach on foot.

We had a very nice holiday here. The accommodation was nice, the staff friendly, and the pool and its sunbeds were excellent. There are no sunbeds by the sea. If you want a beach day, Salt goat beach bar is about a 10-minute walk along a side road, where two sunbeds cost 10 eur. A car is essential. The nearest village is five minutes away by car, with restaurants, souvenir shops, cafés, a bakery, grocery stores, car rentals, a trip agency, and a pharmacy. There are lots of good drives to take too. We rented a car for 240 eur for 8 days in June. In the evening, it's lovely to have a drink and watch the sunset. I recommend it :-)

The beach and sea are close by, and the pool area is nice. The host, though, was terrible. I booked three nights through Booking and left a review afterward. In his reply, he claimed he had offered me a free room upgrade, but he had actually asked me for 100 euros.
