We loved how close Strofilia Villa is to Vamos, where there are good regional restaurants and cooperatives like Myrto for food and drink and Gadairos for music. We also enjoyed visiting Rethymnon, Elutherna, and Margarites. The hills still feel unspoilt by over-tourism, and our holiday felt in harmony with the place. Pantelis and Anastasia, along with their children, were so pleasant and hospitable. The estate is an old family home renovated by Pantelis, with rooms around a central courtyard overlooking the pool and countryside. We stayed in the studio, which had a kitchenette for cooking, and could eat on the main terrace. Pantelis makes wine, and we tried his delicious rosé. Breakfast was generous, local, home-cooked, and served around our schedule. We were invited to share a drink for the host’s birthday and to join a family meal celebrating their eldest son’s graduation. None of it felt obligatory, just kind and generous. The place has a feeling of calm and authenticity. Our stay was truly wonderful.

The rooms have an old farmhouse feel, with big wooden beams, and ours came with a private garden. It’s a peaceful spot looking over the valley, well placed for Vamos restaurants, seaside dining in Almirida and Kalyves, and a quieter swim at Koutalas beach. A group could also book all four sets of rooms and enjoy the place together. We stayed for a lovely week in August. Pantelis and his family work hard to make guests feel welcome, and the generous breakfasts included savory pastries, coffee, garden fruit, and yogurt. The courtyard and property are very well kept, and the pool is lovely. Thanks to Pantelis, Anastasia, and everyone. We hope to return.
