The villa feels rooted in Crete, with comfort and hospitality that come across as sincere. The family running it are warm and generous, sharing wine from their stone cellar, meals around the table, and conversations that carry on into the evening. Their pride and honesty show in the way they welcome people. Inside, there’s plenty of light and space, while the infinity pool opens onto the surrounding landscape. Traditional Cretan touches sit naturally alongside modern comforts. The feeling is of being welcomed as a guest, and even briefly belonging, rather than simply being served. Villa Aori is a memorable, heartfelt kind of stay.

This was our fourth winter escape to Crete, and our favorite place so far. The villa is well equipped and wonderfully remote, and the huge pool was a big hit with the kids. The hosts were incredible and kept finding ways to make the trip memorable. We had an amazing time and would highly recommend it.

The outdoor space and pool were especially lovely, and there was plenty of room for our group of eight. Our hosts were so accommodating, going out of their way to arrange several excursions for us. We had a perfect vacation at Villa Aori and would absolutely recommend it.

A great villa for a big group, with plenty of modern comforts. Emmanuel, who was usually working the land, and his wife Tonia were attentive and quick to sort out any issues. We had three generations staying together, and the house also has a basement space for kids and teenagers, with a PS4, small kitchen, and wine cellar. The grounds include a play area with swings and a slide, plus table tennis. The setting is lovely, among working vineyards and olive trees run by the owner’s family, with stunning views of the 'white mountain' range and nearby area. Inside, five well-appointed bedrooms have very comfortable beds, smart TVs throughout, and direct access to the pool or gardens. Most rooms have en suites, and one is in a separate annex with its own kitchenette. The main living area combines an open-plan kitchen, dining room, and lounge. Large folding doors open onto the standout pool area, including a shallow annex pool. There are sun loungers, oversized bean bags, outdoor showers, a BBQ area, and a long covered seating space. By car, Chania airport and town are about 40 minutes away, Rethymnos is 30 minutes, local villages for basic groceries are five minutes away, and the nearest beaches are around 10 minutes away. I’d highly recommend the place.

We felt welcome from the moment we arrived, and all the rooms were spotless. The villa has modern facilities and an amazing mountain view in the distance. Its fantastic pool and quiet Cretan surroundings made it a perfect spot for a few days.
