Athens Coast Hotel

We had a horrible stay, and I feel I should share what happened for the sake of future travelers. The hotel looked nothing like the online photos and description. The rooms were far smaller than expected, cramped, and hard to move around in. A strong sewage smell from the bathroom made things almost unbearable at times. Our clothes, jewelry, makeup, and three pairs of shoes went missing. Housekeeping was the only group entering our room for daily cleaning. We told staff right away, but every day they said they would check with the housekeeping crew. Nothing was recovered, and we eventually had to contact the police. The staff did nothing to resolve it. There was also loud, constant construction noise, and the pool was closed. Breakfast was very basic and not worth the price. We were even charged for a second cup of coffee, not a refill. The shower curtain was too short, so water spread all over the bathroom floor. The place felt as if it had been put together only a couple of weeks earlier, without proper planning or quality control. Save your money and stay somewhere else. What an atrocity.

We had a very nice five-day family stay. Our corner room was spacious and had air conditioning, a pool view, and a lovely shower with both a rainfall head and a regular one. There was a small minibar fridge for cold drinks, though don’t expect it to get down to 4 degrees. The staff were friendly and always smiling. Breakfast was good, and the pool was nice, open 11:00-19:00 with a lifeguard. Food and drinks were served poolside, and the drinks were good and reasonably priced. The construction next door was very noisy from 08:00 on weekdays, though it stopped at 14:30. To be fair, drilling stopped over the weekend and hadn’t started again by Monday 11.8. We were told the work should finish in early August, so it was frustrating for the hotel too. We worked around it by going to the beach in the morning and coming back to the pool in the afternoon. We enjoyed our stay. The hotel’s quality and the staff’s friendliness made up for the noisy neighbors. We’ll be back and would recommend it.

I hate leaving negative reviews, but this stay was very disappointing and didn’t match what was advertised. The staff’s lack of care made it even more frustrating.

The price seemed fair next to other hotels, and having a ground-floor room worked well with our pram. We stayed two nights before heading to Paros. It’s right in central Glyfada, with easy access to the amenities, and reception was warm and helpful. The room itself felt a little tired.
