Hotel Sirena Beach

We left feeling disappointed and disrespected, and wouldn't recommend this hotel or return. We had high hopes and planned carefully, but several things made us feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. On the first night, we weren't given the room we had booked and paid for. Instead, we were put in a room with bunk beds, even though having one large bed was very important to us, and we'd called ahead to confirm it. The next day, staff moved our belongings to another room without asking us or telling us first. Some things were misplaced and our belongings were thrown around carelessly. A full water bottle was left on top of a speaker, where it could have caused damage. When we came back, nobody told us our things had been moved, and we accidentally walked into a room that was already occupied by other guests. When we asked for help or an explanation, staff could be rude and unfriendly. We felt they treated us with indifference, even disdain. On the third day, we were suddenly asked to pay the accommodation tax, with no advance notice or paperwork. We got no receipt, invoice or written confirmation of payment. Housekeeping didn't clean our room during the stay, and the towels weren't changed at all. Despite all this, the hotel offered no compensation or sincere apology. When we expressed our dissatisfaction, we were met with unpleasant looks. If I could, I'd give it zero stars.

I had a really nice stay and thought the hotel was great value. The beach is only a few minutes away on foot, though it wasn't the best one I've seen. The place itself was cozy and clean, and the staff were lovely. Breakfast was great too. A sea view is available if you choose it.

The staff made things easy, from arranging taxis and explaining public transport to pointing out places to visit. The front desk team, bartender, and room cleaners were all friendly and helpful. George the bartender had especially good recommendations. The hotel is right among restaurants, bars, and shops, and the clean, comfortable room had great air conditioning. Breakfast was very good too.

Sharon was especially warm and wonderful. The customer service was great, and the hotel itself was amazing. If you're heading to malia, I'd definitely recommend it.
