Serenity River Villa

The owners were friendly and quick to respond on WhatsApp and email, both before we arrived and whenever we had questions during the stay. They were there to greet us and see us off. The villa has a huge pool that’s great for swimming laps, plus a private terraced pool area with lots of places to sit. We were also impressed by the green valley setting and the beautifully designed garden and outdoor spaces. Inside, it was comfortable and equipped with so much: welcome groceries with breakfast supplies and homemade cake, cooking and laundry essentials, toiletries, dental products, robes, slippers, shower caps, and towels for the bath, pool, and loungers. The beds were comfortable, and there were insect screens on the living room terrace doors and kitchen window. We’d wholeheartedly recommend this beautiful villa.

The kids still talk about this trip, and our 9-year-old called it “a million out of ten.” We were three kids, aged 15, 12, and 9, and six adults, and Serenity River Villa will always be a special place for our family. A big thank you to Stella and the whole team for making it feel like home. The villa was stocked with practically everything we could think of: kitchen utensils, loads of towels, dental care kits, pool and beach toys, streaming apps on the TVs, blackout blinds, AC, a first aid kit, makeup remover, shampoo, and body wash. We really did find it all there. Stella was the heart of the stay. She made sure we were looked after and then did even more. When we arrived, there was homemade cake and fresh fruit from the garden. Her oranges were the best my family has ever tasted. She also brought us a delicious dessert midway through our three-week visit. Paleochora felt like a loving, wholesome town where tourism and genuine hospitality go together, and Stella captured that feeling. We even took a family photo with her because by the end she felt part of the home we’d made there. Kate from the cleaning service deserves a mention too. She came twice during our three weeks at no extra charge, and left the villa spotless each time. She cleans better than I’ve ever managed!

We really didn’t want to leave this peaceful oasis. From our first contact to the end, the hosts were friendly, flexible, attentive, and ready with advice or little treats whenever we needed them. Even arriving late after our baggage was lost went smoothly, and we were welcomed warmly. The villa has beautiful views and a well-kept garden. Inside, the rooms were clean and comfortable, and there was a well-equipped kitchen and plenty of spots to relax indoors or outside. The pool area was well equipped and lit at night. Beaches and interesting towns are an easy drive away in the lovely south of Chania. We’d recommend the place very highly.
