The noise went on all night because a school was using the hotel. People were socialising in and out of rooms, banging doors and shouting, and the hotel did nothing to stop the disturbance. The breakfast buffet also needed attention. The toaster was caked with old crumbs, and the wooden boxes for bread and pastries needed a proper clean. We arrived late to a first room with dirty, questionable bedding and a dirty, very bad mattress. It wasn't as advertised as new. The second room was a little better, enough to try to sleep, but reception called it an upgrade when all I wanted was a clean room. There was hardly any furniture, no seat and nowhere to put a case. The room felt cold and damp. It wasn't cleaned for four days, until we asked reception again. The bathroom grout was moldy throughout, and the bathroom was generally dirty. The whole hotel felt damp and smelled of it. There was a general lack of attention to detail, and the place feels run down and dirty. The rooms are old, dirty and worn, and this is certainly not four-star cleaning. Avoid.

The value for money really surprised me. At such a low price, I wasn't expecting this much comfort and professionalism, and it honestly felt like a much more expensive hotel. Castello Hotel was clean, comfortable, and well organised down to the details. My room was cozy and modern, with everything I needed, and the staff were very friendly and ready to help with a smile. I had an amazing stay. Highly recommended!

The dining room has a lovely terrace and a privileged view, and breakfast was varied and very complete. My stay was very pleasant, with a spacious room and friendly, helpful receptionists. Special mention to Yiannis from the restaurant, who was super friendly, attentive, professional, and a good communicator.

The rooms were clean, and the balcony had a magnificent view. Castello is also close to the city center. I came from India and stayed for a week, and found the atmosphere friendly. The staff were very helpful, especially Harry and Eva, who helped me get settled. I'd highly recommend staying here if you visit Crete.

The reception staff were the only good part. They tried hard to be friendly and accommodating, and even attempted to move me to another room. The rest of the property was unacceptable, more like a hospital than a welcoming place to stay. It was dusty and gross, with dirty rugs and stained floors throughout. The lobby looked as if it hadn't been cleaned or updated since 1969. There were broken tiles on the stairs and damaged baseboards. This was one of the worst stays I've had, truly disappointing. I strongly advise against staying here. My advice: don't stay here.
